Confession: For a number of reasons, I enjoy reading blogs a lot more than watching YouTube or surfing Instagram.
Want your blog linked? Get to know us. This page is about people we know and sites and places we use, read, and recommend. It’s a work in progress not intended to be encyclopedic.
I can’t promise this page will get updated often, but it will get updated. (April 2, 2022)
People
Comfortable Shoes Studio – A site created and run by Less Harper. It’s a space where journaling and art meet, has a cool name, and is pretty wonderful. (Annemarie reads this blog.)
Fountain Pen Quest – A pen and ink usage blog by Ray that’s an inspiring example of collecting, using, and enjoying one’s collection. (Annemarie reads this blog.)
mnmlscholar – A pen and stationery blog by an academic. JP keeps track of what he’s using, how he’s using it, and how large his pen collection is getting — there’s a database involved here. (Annemarie reads this blog)
Mountain of Ink – Kelli’s blog is completely focused on ink reviews done in as systematic a way as possible. As of this posting, there are 1767 reviews — a new one is posted daily. An ongoing and amazing accomplishment that grew out of a college class project. It’s Annemarie’s go-to reference site for ink.
The Pelikan’s Perch – A labor-of-love site for all things Pelikan by Joshua E. Danley. It’s a place for reviews, company information, and history. (Annemarie reads this blog.)
The Well-Appointed Desk – A long-time stationary blog created and run by Ana Reinert. Her hobby has become her business, the site, and a Patron community. Annemarie reads the blog and is a supporting member of the site. (Annemarie reads this blog)
Communities
The Pen Addict – A huge site created and run by Brad Dowdy about all things inky — a hub of the online pen community with a podcast, active Slack channel, shop, and wiki. (Annemarie listens to the podcast, reads the blog, hangs out on the Pen Addict Slack, and is a supporting member of the site.)
Vendors and Makers
John Neal Books – Wonderful store and site for all things calligraphy. In addition to selling all sorts of supplies at excellent prices, John Neal Bookstore also posts links to professional calligraphers’ sites, making it one of the best places to find lettering classes.
Lemur Ink – A pen, ink, and stationary retailer owned by John. Both Annemarie and Adriana purchase here. Annemarie is especially fond of their special Lemur Lime ink made by Blackstone which sadly is currently unavailable.
Vanness – Annemarie’s first stop for all things pen and paper, but especially ink because their swatches are great. Lisa Vanness was a huge help in getting a leather pen case personalized and shipped at lightning speed for a much-needed birthday gift. They’re a great help in avoiding the Amazon impulse.
