This Edison Extended Mina isn’t my own, but I was able to play with it for a few days a few months back. I wanted to share some impressions about this pen. I didn’t engage in a lengthy writing session with it, so I cannot judge how it would fit my writing style over several pages of notes. That said, it’s really well constructed, and if you are into unique pens from smaller manufacturers, Edison Pen Co. in Ohio has a lot of options and even interesting filler mechanisms. This one is a cartridge converter, so nothing too exciting in terms of filling it up with ink.

If you don’t mind a thinner section or a thinner pen, then the Extended Mina is a good option. For me, I prefer a wider grip section. The ebonite material is subdued and interesting with the swirls. From what I remember off the top of my head, the extra fine nib performs really well, no hard starts, the pen feels good in your hand, the material is very smooth, and the threads are not rough or obtrusive. The owner of this pen picked it up at a pen show a few years back. This pen has wider ends and then tapers toward the grip. It’s a simple, yet elegant pen that wouldn’t draw a lot of attention in a meeting.
